Young Lions
What is the difference between the Young Lions Packages and Young Lions Competition?
If you register as a Young Creative or Young Marketer within the Young Lions Packages, you are NOT automatically taking part in the Young Lions Competition. Competition teams are pre-selected in their respective countries and confirmed by the Festival organisers. More about the Young Lions Competition.
What is the age limit to be able to register as a Young Lion?
Young Creatives must be born after 26 June 1981 and Young Marketers must be born after 26 June 1979. Please note you will be required to provide an employer's letter confirming your employment status and send proof of your birthday, for example a copy of your passport or driving licence.
Is there a difference between a Young Creative registration and a Young Marketer registration?
The Young Creative registration is for young professionals
working in agencies or production companies on behalf of clients (advertising agencies, DM
agencies, digital agencies, design agencies, production companies and so forth), born after
26 June 1981. A Young Marketer registration allows exactly the same access to the Festival as a Young Creative registration. The Young Marketer registration is for young professionals in the fields of marketing and communication working for client companies, born after 26 June 1979. When registering, Young Marketers will be asked to upload a letter from their employer confirming their job title on company letterhead. Both Young Creatives and Young Marketers will need to upload proof of age when registering.
Do I need to fax/send a copy of my passport/driving licence as proof of age?
No, you will be able to upload your ID when registering on our website. This is the quickest and most convenient way of sending us your ID. If it is not possible for you to upload your ID at the time of registering, then you can fax your ID to +44 (0) 207 728 4044 or email it to delegates@canneslions.com. However, we strongly recommend that you upload your ID at the time of registering.
What is not included in the Young Lions Package?
The Opening and Closing Galas after the Awards Ceremonies on Tuesday and Saturday are not included in the Young Lions Packages.

Do I need to fax/send a copy of my Student card?

If it is not possible for you to upload your card at the time of registering, you can fax it to +44 (0) 207 728 4044 or email it to delegates@canneslions.com. Can I change the name of a registered delegate?
Yes. Any requests to amend a delegate registration must be received in writing. In Cannes, a replacement can be made by completing a replacement form that must be accompanied by a letter from the contact company or authorised by a senior member of staff.
Upgrades and Downgrades

Accommodation
Is accommodation included in the registration fee?
No. The registration fee is for your delegate registration only.
What happens if the hotel/residence I request is not available?
Centrally located accommodation in Cannes, particularly prestige, boutique, deluxe and privilege hotels, is especially sought after. We therefore ask that you provide four different choices. If these are not available, we will contact you to offer some alternatives.
When will I get confirmation of my accommodation?
Once your delegate registration payment is confirmed in our system, we will send you a registration and accommodation confirmation letter. Included in the confirmation are hotel/residence deposit and contact details.
How and to whom do we pay the deposit?
Deposits must be paid directly to the hotel/residence. Their bank details and accepted methods of payment are included in your delegate confirmation letter. If they are not, please contact the hotel or residence directly for payment information.
What do I do if I wish to amend my booking?
All requests to amend a booking must be made in writing to the London office. After Friday 4 June 2010, please deal directly with your confirmed hotel or residence. Each change is subject to availability. Please be aware that any changes after the 4 June will incur cancellation charges.
Which dates am I allowed to book with my registration?
A Full Registration entitles a delegate to book all nights of the Festival and those before and after.
A 3-Day or a 4-Day registration (including a Young Lions 4-Day) entitles a delegate to book the nights before the Festival and the nights when the registration is valid. That is, a 3-Day delegate can book until the night of 22 June and a 4-Day delegate can book until the night of 23 June.
Do I have to inform the hotel myself if I cancel my booking and will I get my deposit refunded?
If you wish to cancel a booking, we will make the cancellation on your behalf up to and including Friday 4 June 2010. After this date, all cancellations must be done directly with the hotel/residence. If you have paid your deposit, you will receive a full refund from the hotel/residence if you inform us in writing by Friday 14 May 2010. After this date, deposits are non-refundable, and after 4 June, hotels/residences will charge for the whole booking.

When will I receive my invoice?
Invoices are sent by post once delegate registration payments have been processed. Invoices will be issued in the name of the invoicing company provided in order to claim back French Value-Added Tax (TVA at 19.6%). For further information see our TVA section.
Do all companies have to pay the French Value Added Tax?
No. On 1 Sep 2006, a new fiscal rule was introduced by the French Administration regarding TVA. It states that customers with a French TVA registration number are not required to pay the TVA.
I think I have done a duplicate payment, what happens now?
Please contact our delegate department in order to have your duplicate payment returned to you. Please note you may not be refunded until after the Festival.
What options do I have if my credit card is declined?
It is advisable to contact your card issuing bank to authorise them to release the appropriate funds. Another alternative is a payment by bank transfer. Please do not forget to fill in the correct invoice details before submitting your registration. Once you have transferred the correct amount including bank charges, please email the bank transfer confirmation, including the Delegate Reference Number (found in the subject header of your confirmation email), to delegates@canneslions.com. If neither of these is possible, please contact us on + 44 (0) 207 728 4040 or email delegates@canneslions.com.
What do I do once I have completed my bank transfer?
Please email confirmation of your bank transfer, including your Delegate Reference Number (found in the subject header of your confirmation email), to delegates@canneslions.com.
What is my Delegate Reference Number?
Your Delegate Reference Number (DL) can be found at the top of your proforma invoice that is sent by email when ‘bank transfer’ is selected as the preferred method of payment. It can also be found in the subject header of your confirmation email.
Reclaiming French Tax (TVA)
Do we all have to pay the TVA?
No. As of 1 Sept 2006, the French Administration applies a fiscal rule regarding TVA called Reverse Charge. It states that we are not required to charge TVA to companies who have a French TVA registration number in terms of both French and Foreign operators. However, we must disclose the French TVA registration number (that is, FR) and “LA TVA EST DUE PAR LE CLIENT selon article 283-1 du CGI” on all invoices if the Reverse Charge procedure is applied.
If you do not have a French TVA registration number, you will be charged TVA at 19.6%, but you can reclaim your TVA via a Tax Representative.
What is TVA?
TVA is charged at 19.6% on all delegates who do not have a French TVA registration number. It is the French equivalent of VAT found in most European countries. The IAF pays the TVA to the French administration on receipt of your payment, NOT on the date of issuing sales invoices. The tax point date for TVA is the receipt date of your payment that is also the invoice date.
Why the need to pay TVA?
IAF provides a service directly to delegates in Cannes, France that is subjected to TVA (that is, you will have to pay TVA on any goods and services purchased while you are in France). TVA is only applied to those companies who do not have a French TVA registration number. This means that you will have to pay TVA at 19.6% if you do not have a French TVA registration number, but you can reclaim your TVA (see below for procedure).
How to reclaim the TVA.
The IAF cannot assist you in reclaiming your TVA. However, you can reclaim TVA via a Tax Representative such as TEVEA. For more information, please email TEVEA International: mail@tevea.com or visit their website http://www.tevea-international.com/_en/partners/canneslions/index.php
Please note that you must have the original PAID invoice from IAF in order to reclaim TVA. Please retain your original invoice as we cannot reissue original PAID invoices. A copy of your original invoice will not qualify for TVA reclaim.
Importance of giving the correct information while registering.
In order to prevent companies from reclaiming the TVA twice, the French administration does not allow us to re-issue the original invoice. Only original paid invoices are valid for TVA reclaim. It is therefore important that you provide the correct invoice details when registering, particularly invoice company name and address. It is our company policy to send invoices out by normal post, but we would recommend you choose the registered post option.
Why can't the Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival (IAF) refund the TVA?
The IAF will have to pay TVA to the French administration on receipt of your payment. As per French Administration regulation, we are not allowed to refund any TVA on credit notes. This means we can only refund the net amount if a registration is cancelled or never submitted or if duplicate payments are made. However, you can reclaim TVA via a Tax Representative (see procedure above) using your original invoice. We will then refund the net amount via a credit note.
Terms and Conditions
Attention
The Festival organisers reserve the right to publish information contained in delegate registration forms e.g. the delegate list and the Cannes Lions website.

Please supply your bank with your Delegate Reference Number (found at the top of your proforma invoice and in the subject header of your confirmation email), company details, number of delegates and registration type, as a description of what the payment is for: (e.g. DL/213, Company Name, City, 2 x full registrations + 1 x 3-day registrations).
