Sergio Valente is the President and CEO of DDB Brasil, one of the most awarded ad agencies in the world and one of the five largest Brazilian agencies, and he is a partner at ABC Group, the 21st largest communication group in the world.
With more than 20 years of experience in advertising, Sergio actually has, a background in other fields: he graduated both in Civil Engineering and Business.
In 1994 he joined DDB Brasil as a copywriter and, after six years, became its Creative Director. In 2001 he joined Publicis as Creative Vice President but soon get returned to DDB Brasil in 2002 as Creative Vice President. In January 2005 he was named President and CEO.
It was under Sergio’s leadership that, in 2005, DDB Brasil won its third title at the Cannes International Advertising Festival as Agency of the Year - that time as Interactive Agency of the Year – its second Grand Prix, and reached the current mark of 74 Lions.
In 2004 he was elected Adman of the Year by Colunistas Awards, and, in 2007, was named Creative Professional of the Year at the Brazilian Professional Contribution Awards, organised by the Advertising Professionals Association.
He had been a Film Lions jury member at Cannes Lions and last year served on the jury for the Titanium & Integrated Lions. He has recently been named Adman of the Year by Colunistas Awards once again and DDB Brasil was just elected Agency of the Year.
Sergio is one of the most considered professionals in Brazil, mixing outstanding creative skills with a sharp eye for business and campaign results. The agency has won ten new accounts in the last 18 months, including Intel, Unilever/Kibon, Whirlpool, fashion retailer C&A, Ambev/Guarana Antarctica (soft drinks) and Sadia (frozen foods).
