Security arrangements at Cannes Lions 2017
The safety of our attendees is our absolute priority.
We continue to work very closely all year round with the Mayor and the City of Cannes with regards to security arrangements for the Festival.
Back in 2015, the Mayor initiated a detailed security review in light of events that had taken place in Europe. One of the outcomes of that review was that the level of security provided for Cannes Lions is in line with that provided for the Film Festival. This includes increased police presence, CCTV cameras and operatives across the City. There are bag checks at all entrances to the Palais, which is surrounded by a security cordon accessible only to official delegates. During the Festival, the Croisette is closed to all traffic on the northern side carriageway between the hours of 19:00 and 05:00. During the last 12 months, physical barriers have been placed along the beach side to protect pedestrians walking along the Croisette.

Picking Up Your Badge
Where do I collect my badge?
All delegates can collect their badge from the Registration area inside the Palais des Festivals. Bring your confirmation or barcode email to the security checkpoint. Gold and Platinum delegates will be able to pick up their badges at Cannes Lions desks in Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 at Nice airport during the daytime.
What time can I collect my badge?
All delegates can collect their badge from the Registration area inside the Palais des Festivals, during the following times:
Friday 16 June* to Friday 23 June 08:00 - 20:00
Saturday 24 June 08:00 - 18:00
*Please note the Palais des Festivals is open on Friday 16 June for pre-registration only. The Festival will be open from Saturday 17 June.
What do I need to have with me in order to collect my badge?
In addition to either your confirmation or barcode email, you will need photo ID (passport or driving license) to collect your badge. It is a good idea to have uploaded your photo in advance.
Where can I find my confirmation or barcode email?
The confirmation email was sent to the person who registered your pass online. In addition, each delegate will receive a unique barcode by email a couple of days before the Festival they are due to attend (if they have provided a direct email address). You will need to show either of these emails – on your phone, tablet or printed out – in order to get through the security checkpoint outside the main venue.
How long will it take to pick up my badge?
We recommend you allow at least 20 minutes for badge collection, once you have got through security. During peak times it will get busy, especially Sunday through Tuesday. Early mornings and evenings are typically quieter.
Am I allowed inside the security perimeter if I do not have a badge?
If you need to register to buy your pass, go to the security checkpoint and a member of staff will be happy to take you over to Registration. Without a badge, you will not be able to enter any of the other security checkpoints.
What area in the harbour will have restricted access?
Quai D’Honneur - the harbour side walk right behind the Palais des Festivals.
When will access to the Quai D’Honneur be restricted?
From 08:00 to 18:00 between 17 and 24 June 2017, inclusive.
Can somebody who isn’t a delegate access Quai D’Honneur?
No, access to the Quai D’Honneur will be reserved to Cannes Lions, Lions Health, Lions Innovation and Lions Entertainment delegates, including Networking, yacht and harbour pass holders only. Non-registered attendees will be able to access the harbour only with a Harbour pass. There will be a security checkpoint at the entrance to the Quai D’Honneur, where you be asked to show your delegate badge.
Can I buy a Harbour pass?
No. Harbour passes can’t be purchased individually. Harbour passes are exclusive to Yacht pass holders and are not on sale separately.
I have a Yacht pass. Can I buy more Harbour passes?
Your Yacht pass includes set amount of Harbour passes, which can’t be purchased individually.
Can a Harbour pass be used more than once in one day?
Yes, Harbour passes are non-nominative and transferable. However, a pass can only be used by one person at a time. Once the person using a Harbour pass leaves the port area, the pass can be transferred to another guest.
I’m putting on a function on my yacht in the evening. Can anybody access Quai D’Honneur at night?
Yes, the harbour will be open to the public after 6pm.
I have a 4-day pass, can I access Quai D’Honneur after my pass runs out?
Yes, you will be able to access the Harbour with any official Cannes Lions delegate pass.
Can I access the main Festival venue with a Yacht pass?
Yes, your Yacht pass includes 5 Complete passes which give you full access to the festival content.
How do I register my 5 x Complete passes which are part of the Yacht pass?
You can register your 5 complete passes via dedicated URL sent by the Yacht Pass team.
Where and when can I pick up my Yacht Complete passes?
Your Complete passes can be picked up from 16th June from the dedicated Yacht Pass desk in the main registration area in the Palais the Festival.
What about the yacht crew?
The crew will receive yacht pass Contractor passes which can be picked up from the Yacht Pass desk in the main registration.
What about suppliers and deliveries?
All deliveries are required to take place before 8am or after 6pm when access to the harbour isn’t restricted.

Hotel Bars Access
What is Hotel Access?
In line with other major events that take place in Cannes, from this year official delegates at Cannes Lions will have priority access to the main bars and restaurants of the Palace hotels along the Croisette between 08:00 and 18:00 during the Festival.
Official delegates are those with a Complete, Classic, 4 Day, Young Lion, Student, Academy, Networking, Lions Health, Lions Innovation, Lions Entertainment, Speaker, Press or Festival Representative pass.
If you don't have a badge you will still be able to use the hotels during these hours (subject to capacity as always) but you will need to complete a short online form before you enter for the first time. This will generate a digital Hotel Access Pass which will be sent to you in an email and can also be downloaded to your phone. It is now possible to generate a Hotel Access Pass prior to the Festival, here.
Which badges give you priority access?
All badges will give priority access to the main bars and restaurants of the Palace hotels along the Croisette between 08:00 and 18:00 during the Festival.
This includes those with a Complete, Classic, 4 Day, Young Lion, Student, Academy, Networking, Lions Health, Lions Innovation, Lions Entertainment, Speaker, Press or Festival Representative badge. If you have a badge, you will just need to show this at the door to be let straight in.
Do I have to pay for Hotel Access?
No, there is no charge for the Hotel Access pass.
Why do I have to show my badge when I go into the hotel bars?
Most large scale events in Cannes include the major hotels as part of their ‘official’ footprint. As the Festival has grown, access to the hotel bars and restaurants is in very high demand, making it more difficult to book tables and find places to have meetings during the day. Feedback from delegates new and old has been quite clear in recent years on this – so we’ve been working closely with the City and the hotels themselves on a way to manage these exclusive networking spaces better, whilst protecting the importance of after-hours socialising!
Can I bring / meet somebody who isn’t a delegate into the hotel bars?
Yes. Anybody can join you and there is no charge - so long as there is space of course. They will just need to show their ‘hotel access’ on their smartphone to security when they arrive.
Where do I get a ‘hotel access’? Is there a deadline?
There is no deadline to register. However, to speed up your entry to one of the 'Palace' hotels onsite, register in advance via the following link. Your hotel access will be generated digitally and you will be able to store it in your smartphone. A copy will be sent to your email. You can also register for hotel access on arrival at one of the major hotels along the Croisette.
Which hotels are affected?
The ‘Palace’ hotels are the large ones along the Croisette. They include the Majestic, directly opposite the Palais, the Carlton, the Martinez, JW Marriott and the Grand.
Can anybody go in at night?
Yes. For 2017, there will be no need to wear or have or show a badge or ‘hotel access’ after 18:00.
My badge is valid for 2 days, but I’m staying in Cannes longer – do I need a ‘hotel access’ as well?
No. Your official Festival badge will give you entry to the Hotels throughout the 8 days.
I don’t have a badge but my friend does. Can I use theirs?
No. The badges are non-transferable (that’s why they have a photo on) so please don’t share your badge with anybody else.
I’m a resident at one of the hotels. Do I need a Hotel pass as well? Can I use the bars?
Will you be doing this every year from now on?
Of course, if you’re staying at the hotel you will have full access to its facilities. If you want to visit the bar / restaurant at one of the other hotels, you will need to show your official delegate badge or a ‘hotel access’ on your smartphone.
It is likely that we will extend the delegate-only experiences in 2018, but the details are yet to be decided.
Booking a pass
How can I book a pass for the Festival?
Festival passes can be booked online from Thursday 12 January. You can also pay in person at the Festival. Some passes have limited availability so we recommend you book in advance of the Festival to avoid disappointment.

Is there a deadline for booking passes?
No. You can book both online and onsite at the Festival up until Saturday 24 June 2017.
However, if you do not register online and choose to register upon arrival at the Festival, a walk-up fee will apply per delegate pass. This applies to all Festivals (including Cannes Lions, Lions Health, Lions Innovation and Lions Entertainment) and pass types.
Can I book more than one pass at a time?
You can add several delegates before you pay or you can pay for them separately. Details of the passes you’ve booked will be listed in the My Passes section of your My Account area.
I am bringing a group of more than 10. Can you help me to organise our trip?

Are there any discounts on the pass price?
Some passes are available at Early Bird rates. Young Lions and Students also qualify for discounted rates. Early bird deadlines, discounts and eligibility details for the Young Lion and Student passes are all listed here
I keep receiving email reminders, what do they mean?
You may have started but not completed a delegate booking: log back into your account and complete your pending booking or delete the booking from the My Passes section. You may not yet have paid for your pass(es): contact our Finance Team
with any payment queries. Please have your order reference number (e.g. DL/123) to hand, which is listed in the confirmation email you received when you completed the online booking.
How can I cancel a booking?
If you or one of your party are no longer able to attend the Festival, click the Edit Details button on the delegate’s pass from the My Passes section of your My Account area. Please make sure you are aware of our cancellation policy before you choose to cancel your booking.
Can I receive a refund or credit if I cancel my booking?
We regret that the Festival office will be unable to offer refunds or credits if a delegate pass is cancelled. However, it is possible to replace a delegate at any time, via the My Passes section of your My Account area. An administration fee of €130 + TVA for standard delegates and €80 + TVA for Young Lions & Students, is applicable for each name change completed online before midnight GMT 2 June 2017. The fee will increase to €200 + TVA for standard delegates and €110 + TVA for Young Lions & Students, after midnight GMT 2 June 2017.
I cancelled my booking by mistake, is there any way to reinstate it?
Yes. If you wish to reinstate a delegate pass, you can do so by clicking on the Edit Details button on the delegate’s pass, from the My Passes section of your My Account area.
Amendments and Replacements
Can I change the name of a booked delegate?
Yes, if you wish to make a name change, you can do so by clicking on the Edit Details button on the delegate’s pass, from the My Passes section of your My Account area. An administration fee of €130 + TVA for standard delegates and €80 + TVA for Young Lions & Students, is applicable for each name change completed online before midnight GMT 2 June 2017. The fee will increase to €200 + TVA for standard delegates and €110 + TVA for Young Lions & Students, after midnight GMT 2 June 2017.
If you choose the ‘Book Without Details’ option, the price of the delegate pass will include the administration fee. You will not be charged the admin fee again when you provide the delegate’s details later.
Is there a deadline to make a name change?
No. You can change the name on a delegate pass up until the last day of the Festival, Saturday 24 June 2017.
Can I change the name/email of the contact person?

Upgrades and Downgrades
Can I upgrade/downgrade a delegate pass?
If you wish to upgrade or downgrade a delegate pass, you can do so by clicking on the Edit Details button on the delegate’s pass, from the My Passes section of your My Account area. Our cancellation policy also applies to downgrades. Refunds and credits will not be issued for downgraded delegate passes.

How much does it cost to upgrade a delegate pass?
If you decide to upgrade a delegate pass, you will only have to pay for the difference in price between the two passes.
