The Mobile Lions celebrate device-driven creativity. Entries will need to demonstrate performance in portable platforms. That is, work where a hand-held or wearable environment is integral to the idea and enables key aspects of the execution.
Chosen by the specialist Mobile Lions team, here are five examples of work to give you an idea of the size and scope of the mobile category.
The connected device
Babolat Play, by Babloat
Silver in Mobile – Innovative Technology for Mobile By connecting with a Babolat tennis racket, this app enables players to analyse every aspect of their technique. Data generated by players was also fed into a social platform, allowing players to compare and compete with each other.
The VR experience
Dreams of Dalí, by the Dalí Museum
Silver Mobile Lion: Virtual Reality Experience, 2016 Dreams of Dalí is a mobile experience that takes viewers inside the surrealist master’s mind, using his 1935 painting Archeological Reminiscence of Millet’s “Angelus” as a starting point. For the first time, people could experience a painting from before the artist’s very first brushstroke.
The safety app
A Dog's Story, by Mars Shortlisted Mobile Lion: Mobile apps, 2016 An educational mobile app that teaches children about dog safety. By going on an adventure through a magical world and meeting different dogs and their owners vital information is delivered in this beautifully designed and engaging app.
Horse with Harden, by Foot Locker Bronze in Mobile: Social for Mobile – Use of Co-Creation & User Generated Content, 2016 HORSE with Harden allowed fans to play a digital game of HORSE – a basketball playground game –against NBA All-Star James Harden. Fans submitted trick shots via social media and their mobile devices then James attempted them in real-time fed to a live edit. This campaign drove Footlockers social media presence to new heights and it gave fans the opportunity to play a game of HORSE with one of their favourite stars, something few people can say they have done.
The language course
WhatsGerman, by Plan.net Gold Mobile Lion: Messaging campaign, 2016 More than a million refugees arrived in Germany in 2015. In their baggage, nothing but hope and their smartphone. Having to wait an average of three months for a German course made integrating into their new home hard. To change the refugees situation and to help them start their new life WhatsGerman was created, the first-ever language course for refugees hosted on WhatsApp.
