Direct jurors were solidly divided between two pieces of work, and only came to a decision at midnight after five rounds of heated debate.
And one of the jurors was overheard by Jury President Ted Lim describing Grand Prix-winning ‘Google Home of the Whopper’ campaign as “the best abuse of technology”
Mobile jurors debated over around 700 pieces of work, and was described by Jury President Andy Hood as a category “often misunderstood, which requires a very specific group of people to be able to navigate it”.
Juries at the Festival will spent at least 1,278 hours in judging and discussion – that’s enough to fly around the world 19 times.
Mobile juror Sedire Ajeenah noted that the app graveyard is growing, and it’s becoming increasingly vital for platforms to work in ways no-one could foresee.
The biggest observation made by the Cyber Lions jury was, according to Cyber juror Timm Weber, that cyber has entered all parts of our live, and can be literally anything – something physical, a tool, something helpful, or even a lot of fun.
It was Cyber Lion juror Ritu Sharda’s first time on a Cannes Lions jury, and she summed it up: “I was amazed at the diversity in the jury – not just gender and cultural diversity, but also diversity of opinions”.
