Our Top Ten Tips for how to do Cannes Lions

We've put together some tips to help you get absolutely everything you need from this year's Festival.

1. Find Out What's On

You can find the full programme here or on the Cannes Lions App, with session listings for all of our Festival formats. The programme includes times, locations and speakers for mainstage content, networking events, Awards Shows, intimate performances and curated Sports and LGBTQ+ afternoons on The Terrace.

2. Plan Your Time and Build a Schedule

Create a schedule on the App or with a paper and pen – whatever works for you. The Palais is the heart of the Festival and this is the space where you'll find mainstage sessions, the exhibition of the work and more exciting formats.

3. Know Your Networking Opportunities

The Festival is built to help you make new connections. If it’s chance meetings you’re looking for, simply wander along the Croisette to the Cannes Lions Beach, drop in to the Networking Lounge in the Palais or head to the Closing Party. You can also search event type ‘Networking’ to find specific sessions and formats included in the programme.

4. Book a Meet Up

Our series of Meet Ups run throughout the five days of the Festival at the Meet Ups Space on the The Terrace – our open-air space outside the Palais des Festivals. Led by experts, these curated networking sessions combine leading industry learning with an informal setting designed to help you meet people. Search MEET UP in the programme to see all of the sessions and book using the App.

5. Know How to Get Around

Taxis are available, but most people walk around Cannes. The best tip we can give you is to join one of the Guided Tours, which you can see times for and book here.

6. Take Care of Yourself

Simple, but important. Pace yourself, drink water, wear sunscreen and eat good food. We’ve also got a map covering all of the restaurants in the city which you can find here

7. Dress for the Festival

Everything goes in Cannes. Daytime dress is usually more casual and creative, and people tend to dress up a little more for the Awards Ceremonies and Closing Party. And, remember, wear comfortable shoes. Take a look at our Pinterest Board for more inspiration.

8. Download the App

It's the easiest way to browse the Festival programme, filter sessions you want to see by theme, location or format and save your favourites to build your own personalised schedule. You also can use the App to search for and connect with delegates who are coming to the Festival. Download the App here.

9. Discover the world's best work

The Festival is home to a showcase of over 30,000 entries submitted to the Cannes Lions Awards in 2019. The exhibition sits on the Ground Floor of the Palais des Festivals and you can immerse yourself in the work or get behind the ideas with our curated programme – Tours of the Work, the Creativity Matters presentation, Meet a Lions Expert, Inside the Jury Room and How to Win a Lion.

10. Celebrate at the Awards Shows

The iconic Cannes Lions Awards Shows take place each evening of the Festival at the Lumiere Theatre in the Palais des Festivals. You can check the programme to see the Lions being awarded each night. Make your entrance at the red carpet stairs and get there early to guarantee a seat – the Awards Shows are really popular. If we don't have seats, you can also watch a live stream in the Debussy Theatre.
