Biography
Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson is an Academy Award-winning filmmaker, drummer, DJ, producer, director, culinary entrepreneur, New York Times bestselling author, podcaster, and member of The Roots – the heartbeat of Philadelphia’s most influential hip-hop group in the US. He is Musical Director for The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where The Roots serve as house band. A six-time GRAMMY winner with 18 additional nominations, Questlove made his directorial debut with Summer of Soul, which earned an Academy Award, BAFTA, GRAMMY, and Peabody Awards and was named “Best Movie of 2021” by The New York Times. Through his production company Two One Five Entertainment, he executive produced acclaimed projects including Descendant (Netflix/Higher Ground). Questlove hosts the acclaimed podcast Questlove Supreme on iHeart and is the author of Mo’ Meta Blues, Creative Quest, and Music Is History. He remains a cultural force in music, film, food and media.
