Gustavo Petro is a Colombian politician and economist, born on April 19, 1960, in Ciénaga de Oro, Córdoba. He is recognised for his trajectory in social activism and progressive views. Before becoming President, he served as the Mayor of Bogotá (2012-2014) and as a Senator. He is a member of the Colombia Humana movement, and his administration focuses on issues such as social justice, environmental protection, and peace. Petro is considered a charismatic leader with a critical perspective on traditional policies in Colombia. He was elected President in June 2022.
