Heidi Christ is MADE51 Lead, United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). She has devoted over 20 years to economic empowerment for women and refugee issues. Her career spans the United Nations, the private sector and NGOs, with her current role of serving as the global lead of MADE51, a UNHCR brand offering market access to refugee artisans worldwide. Heidi's previous roles include founding WomenCraft, a social enterprise in Tanzania. Her career began with U.S. Peace Corps in Romania, focusing on small business development. She later coordinated refugee livelihood initiatives in Tanzania with the Lutheran World Federation, managed programs for refugee self-sufficiency with the International Rescue Committee and worked with the World Food Programme in Thailand. Her dedication to women's empowerment and refugee advocacy continues to drive impactful change.
