Biography

Isaac Baley is an economist whose work bridges macroeconomic theory and real-world dynamics. Originally from Mexico City, he's an Associate Professor at Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Affiliated Professor at the Barcelona School of Economics, and Researcher at the Centre de Recerca en Economia Internacional. He holds an Economics PhD from NYU.

His research spans labor markets, firm pricing and investment, the propagation of macroeconomic shocks, international trade, and human capital dynamics. He focuses on how individuals and firms adapt when decisions are difficult to reverse and the economic environment is uncertain. His work has been published in leading academic journals and recognized with international research and teaching awards.

Isaac is co-author of The Data Economy: Tools and Applications, a book that offers a macroeconomic perspective on how data is transforming production and consumption, markets, and advertising. He previously advised Mexico’s Ministries of Economics and Finance on financial inclusion and market design.
