Sir Peter Jackson is a New Zealand filmmaker known for his groundbreaking work in the fantasy genre and his expertise in visual storytelling. He began making films as a teenager and gained attention with his cult hit Bad Taste. His 1994 film Heavenly Creatures earned his first Academy Award nomination and marked the start of his rise in international recognition. Jackson then directed The Lord of the Rings trilogy, a cinematic landmark that won 17 Oscars, including Best Director and Best Picture. He followed with King Kong, The Hobbit trilogy, and the acclaimed WWI documentary They Shall Not Grow Old.
