Let's Get Unfashionable

Biography

In 2020, the British Fashion Council launched their world-leading sustainability programme, The Institute of Positive Fashion (IPF).  Its mission is to establish a just and prosperous fashion and textiles UK economy, with a focus on decarbonisation and the circular economy.

Shailja’s work is about creating major direction shifts across UK fashion for a more sustainable and equitable global industry. She does this through developing coordinated industry-wide action programmes which inform policy interventions. In her role, Shailja participates in policy roundtables, speaks on panels at many industry events including London Tech Week and the Future Fabrics Expo, and has been a guest on BBC Radio 4.

Prior to the BFC Shailja was Responsible Retail Lead at Accenture UK, working at the intersection of sustainability and business in the fashion and wider retail sectors.
