Biography
Shonda Rhimes is an award-winning television creator, producer and author, and CEO of Shondaland. She is the first woman to create three television dramas – “Grey’s Anatomy”, “Private Practice” and “Scandal” – that achieved the 100-episode milestone.
In 2017, Rhimes left network television to exclusively produce streaming content with Netflix, scripting “Bridgerton”, “Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story” and “Inventing Anna”, and executive-producing “The Residence”, “Dance Dreams: Hot Chocolate Nutcracker” and “Black Barbie”.
Rhimes is a New York Times best-selling author and has built multi-platform partnerships with Dove, Peloton, St. John, Masterclass, Microsoft and Mattel. She also founded The Rhimes Foundation, and serves on several boards including the American Film Institute, Lincoln Center and the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture.
Rhimes was named three times in the TIME 100 list, appointed a CBE for services to US/UK relations and inducted into the Television Academy Hall of Fame.
