He began his career in advertising and radio, later transitioning to television and joining Globo in 1986.
Over the years, Bonner has become one of the most trusted figures in Brazilian journalism. He has anchored Jornal Nacional since 1996, leading the coverage of major national and international events with credibility and consistency.
In 2022, Bonner and the Jornal Nacional team were honored with the International Emmy Award for News for their coverage of the January 8th, 2023 attacks on Brazilian democratic institutions. The award recognized the program's commitment to high-quality journalism and the defense of democratic values.
In addition to the Emmy, Bonner has received numerous national awards, including the Comunique-se Award and the Troféu Imprensa. He is also the author of Jornal Nacional: Modo de Fazer (2009), a book that offers a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the news.
