This year’s Young Lions Health award, launched by “la Caixa” Banking Foundation and UNICEF in collaboration with Cannes, challenges young communication professionals to design a pneumonia awareness campaign for World Pneumonia Day on 12 November.
The aim of this campaign is to raise awareness and engagement in the fight against pneumonia. Pneumonia accounts for up to 16% of total under-five mortality and is the single leading cause of infectious deaths among children globally. Yet, pneumonia is a preventable disease.
The YHLA competition highlights the partnership of UNICEF and “La Caixa” Banking Foundation to fight pneumonia through improved diagnostic products that measure a sick child’s respiratory rate (Acute Respiratory Infectious Diagnostic Aid device).
“Global health is one of the main priorities in international cooperation for “la Caixa” Banking Foundation,” said Jaume Giró, Chief Executive Officer of “la Caixa” Banking Foundation. “The great commitment young creatives’ have shown with their projects will help to raise awareness worldwide in the belief that no children should ever die from a preventable disease like pneumonia.”
