Biography
JULIEN CALOT
Chief Creative Officer, McCANN Paris
Global Creative Director, L’Oréal brands (McCANN Group)
Julien was not originally destined for a career in advertising. After studying engineering and attending business school, he began as a strategy consultant. But his personal passion for painting, music and literature took over, and he turned to creative work.
This background gave him a unique ability to combine business insight with artistic intuition — a duality that has defined his work ever since.
Fred & Farid first, then he founded his own agency in New York, before joining Air Paris as Creative Director, and eventually becoming CCO of McCann Paris.
Today, he leads international accounts across the network and serves as Global Creative Director for all L’Oréal brands.
Julien has crafted campaigns for Valentino, Miu Miu, Prada, Longines, Moncler, Viktor & Rolf, Azzaro, Biotherm, and L’Oréal Paris, as well as heritage maisons like Christofle, Daum, and Haviland.
He played a key role in transforming the global image of L’Oréal Paris, with award-winning campaigns like the Vogue Non-Issue and Lessons of Worth. He is also behind the upcoming documentary The Final Copy of Ilon Specht — a tribute to the woman who wrote Because I’m Worth It, and a reflection on the legacy of feminist voices in advertising.
As a natural extension of his creative leadership, Julien directs brand films, collaborating with celebrated talents and cultural icons, and bringing cinematic storytelling into the world of luxury communication.
Julien’s work is rooted in the belief that modern luxury is not about status, but emotion — a sense of elevation, beauty, and timeless storytelling.
In parallel, he continues to paint and exhibit internationally — quietly building a body of work that reflects his obsession with color, nature and joy.
His multidisciplinary approach continues to inform his creative voice — and his vision of modern luxury.
