Rich Silverstein Blends AI and Storytelling Into a Broadway Musical
Thursday 25 June, 12:15–12:45
Overview
Speakers
Description:
What happens when a lifetime of advertising meets the world of live theatre? Rich Silverstein will draw on more than four decades of storytelling and craft to imagine the creation of a Broadway musical – 13 Days – inspired by the Cuban Missile Crisis.
What began as a satirical art project – complete with fabricated ads and playbills – evolved into a creative experiment.
Blending archival material with modern AI tools, the session shows how new technologies can expand – not replace – human creativity. Attendees will be challenged to think beyond traditional boundaries and find inspiration in both the past and the future.
Part cautionary tale and part call to action, this session invites audiences to step away from their devices and rediscover the joy of making something unexpected.
Questions this session will answer:
- How can creative techniques from advertising—like storytelling and craft—be applied to entirely different mediums, like a Broadway musical?
- In the era of AI, how can we use new technology to sell creative ideas without replacing human creativity?
- How can AI tell a historical story in a modern way?
