Biography
Rihito Shimazu is a Director and Project Manager at Japan Broadcasting Corporation (NHK), specialising in education and digital initiatives. For many years, he has reported on people living at the margins of Japanese society – including organised crime figures, sex workers, and LGBTQ+ communities – expressing their stories through documentaries, puppet theatre, manga and animation.
In recent years, his work has focused on designing educational web services for children and learning content that introduces generative AI. With a core mission of ‘enhancing self-esteem among teenagers’, he leads a wide range of cross-disciplinary projects spanning video and digital media, including the planning, development and production of new television programs and web content, as well as project management for educational digital platforms.
