REAL TONE | GOOGLE | 2022 | GOOGLE, MOUNTAIN VIEW | GRAND PRIX MOBILE LIONS
Historically, camera technology hasn’t accurately represented darker skin tones — a bias that's crept into many products, even today. So Google Mountain View set out to design Google’s most inclusive camera, with a strong focus on people with darker skin tones.
With Google’s product and engineering team, a diverse group of industry professionals tested the Pixel 6 camera and Google Photos editor in a wide range of challenging conditions. In the process, they took thousands of portraits that made their image data sets 25x more diverse — and look more like the world around us.
BACKUP UKRAINE | POLYCAM X UNESCO | 2022 | VIRTUE WORLDWIDE | NEW YORK | BRONZE MOBILE LIONS
Polycam x UNESCO’s ‘Backup Ukraine’ initiative engaged smartphone-owning Ukrainians to help preserve every inch of their cultural icons. Citizens could create high-definition 3D models of places and monuments in a matter of minutes and keep them in an online archive, so so if they’re ever destroyed, Ukraine's cultural treasures can forever be rebuilt down to the last detail.
Just 10 days from launch, Backup Ukraine secured 170+ news articles worldwide. 6 NGOs pledged their support and 5 scanning firms offered equipment, funding and assistance on the ground. With 2,246 weekly downloads and a 44% growth in heritage scanned each week, Ukraine’s 26,800 monuments are on track to be scanned within months.
