João Machado is a Brazilian director and visual artist floating between film and animation. Alongside his partners, he has led the multi-award winning The Youth, an independent production company and film directors collective based in Curitiba, Brasil. As an extension of that project he also formed COLOSSAL, a creative animation studio.

With both Colossal and The Youth, João and his partners have been creating works with a singular visual appeal, and establishing themselves on the forefront of the craft in the new generation of Latin filmmakers and animators.
