Biography

Joris is one of the Netherlands’ leading creative directors with the ambition to make advertising less advertising and more authentic, adding real value to people's lives. This is reflected in a unique proven track record of awards and a recognition by the Drum as one of the world’s top 200 Creative Directors.

Joris launched his advertising career in 2008. Along with his creative partner, he won a gold Lion in Design for 'Mars Messages' 2 years later. After a brief stint in Brussels, they joined DDB & Tribal in Amsterdam, where they created the viral hit 'Volkswagen Das Hund'.

At Ogilvy Amsterdam, their 'Volvo Lifesaver' campaign helped the agency become the Most Awarded Dutch Agency at Cannes Lions in 2021 with wins in Health & Wellness and Outdoor.

Since joining Dentsu in 2021, Joris has been instrumental in elevating the agency’s creative output, winning 'Agency of the Year' in the Netherlands in 2023 and securing a Cannes Lions Grand Prix for KPN's 'Piece of me' in 2024 as well as 2 Clio Grand Prix and a Grand Prix at the European Effies.

To date, Joris has earned 8 Cannes Lions (1 GP, 1 Gold, 4 Silver, 2 Bronze), 3 D&AD pencils (1 Yellow, 2 Wood) and 6 Clios (2 GP, 2 Gold, 1 Bronze) amongst which a Cannes Lions Grand Prix for KPN ‘Piece of me’ plus countless other awards such as a Webby for ‘A’dam fresh Heineken’.
