Biography

Juan Javier serves as Chief Creative Officer & Partner at GUT and co-leads the agency’s Global Creative Council, which helped GUT become Independent Network of the Year at Cannes Lions 2023.

In 2016, Juan Javier was named the #1 Copywriter in the World according to the Cannes Lions Global Creativity Report. He also earned the honor of being the first ever Creative of the Year by Ad Age in the A-List & Creativity Awards, and was featured in ADWEEK's CREATIVE 100 as one of the ‘Creative Directors Who Are Completely Reimagining What’s Possible in Advertising’ the following year in 2017. In 2018, Business Insider named him as one of the ‘Rising Stars of Madison Avenue who are revolutionizing advertising’.

Throughout his career he has won over 100 Cannes Lions and 200 international creative awards, including multiple Grand Prix at every festival. He has also created 8 Super Bowl spots for Google, Heinz, Budweiser, Devour, and Burger King. His work is featured in the permanent collection of the MoMA and has been used as an example in the United States Senate.

In 2023 Juan Javier also worked on the political campaign that helped Daniel Noboa get elected as the youngest President in the history of Ecuador.

But beyond all the awards and recognition, Juan Javier is just an ad nerd who loves advertising and creating work that ultimately becomes a part of pop culture.
