Biography

Grammy Award-winning Nigerian-British director Meji Alabi is a creative visionary whose work spans continents and industries. As co-founder of JM Films and a director signed to Ridley Scott’s RSA Films, Alabi has collaborated with global superstars – from Beyoncé to Wizkid, Burna Boy to Stormzy, Tiwa Savage, Davido, Tyla, and Rema – crafting iconic music videos that resonate worldwide.

He has directed acclaimed visual projects including Disney’s Voices Rising: The Sound of Wakanda Forever, working alongside Ryan Coogler and Ludwig Göransson to document the creation of the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack across LA, Lagos, London, and Mexico. His 2024 feature debut Water & Garri, starring Tiwa Savage, made history as Prime Video’s biggest weekend opener in Nigeria, landing No.1 across multiple African markets and charting in the Top 10 in over a dozen countries.

Alabi’s directorial eye has also delivered standout commercial work for global brands including Guinness, KFC, Fanta, Pepsi, Oreo, Cadillac, Coca-Cola, Martell and more. Featured on CNN’s African Voices and celebrated for campaigns like Malaria No More starring David Beckham, Meji Alabi’s dynamic and inspirational body of work cements his place as a world-class creative leader.
