Biography

Rebecca Sowden is founder of the world’s first dedicated women’s sport agency, Team Heroine and co-founder of Cannes award winning campaign, Correct the Internet that tackled bias against sportswomen in search engines and spoke on the initiative at Cannes Festival last year.

A former New Zealand and USA college soccer player, she is a provocative voice on women’s sport, receiving status as a Linkedin Top Voice and recognition as one of the leading 11 people globally to progress women’s football in 2023 alongside Sam Kerr and the Spanish Women’s Football team.

She has led the sponsorship and marketing of global sporting events including Hong Kong Sevens, Volvo Ocean Race, FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, World Rowing Champs and is currently a commentator on Australia’s women’s premier soccer competition.

Rebecca believes the ingredients for women’s sport marketing success include leveraging the power of creativity, community, collective action and courage and has worked with brands including the US Women’s Team National Player’s Association, Ironman, Sky Sport, Xero and New York T Brand Studio on their own women’s sport efforts.
