We've got a superb programme of industry titans and unique events lined up for you, as we countdown to the final Awards Show of Festival week.
Start the day by examining where we’ve been – and where we should be heading. Take your seat to hear the reflections of three iconic creatives as they share rare lessons from their careers.
Spike Lee won his first ever Award in 1983, as a student. Forty years later, he is one of the most influential figures in contemporary cinema and culture, and the first person honoured as Cannes Lions’ Creative Maker of the Year.
When the Festival was founded in 1954, the original Lion was created to recognise world-class creativity in TV and Cinema advertising. Seventy years later, this new award honours that heritage, and will celebrate an increasingly broad mix of creative makers who will bring ideas to life into the future.
The Award recognises Spike Lee as one of the most influential figures in contemporary cinema and culture, and as a maker who strives to make creative stories. Alongside receiving the award, you can hear Spike in conversation with director Barry Alexander Brown contemplating just how much ‘making’ something can influence the cultural landscape around you.
Susan Hoffman, CCO at Wieden+Kennedy, is honoured with the Lion of St. Mark – recognising a lifetime of service to creativity in communications. Hear her reflect on the past four decades as she’s honoured with the Lion of St. Mark – recognising a lifetime of service to creativity. The famous Lion of St. Mark seminar has seen former recipients deliver a masterclass in creativity, and is not to be missed.
This year we honour Yvon Chouinard, founder and former owner, Patagonia, with the Cannes LionHeart Award – recognising an individual who has used their position to make a significant positive impact on our world. In the 50 years since Yvon Chouinard founded Patagonia in 1973, the brand has always aligned itself with finding solutions for the environmental crisis.
Explore what it means to do truly sustainable business, with the future front of mind, as Patagonia's EMEA marketing director, Tyler Le Motte, accepts the Cannes LionHeart Award on behalf of the brand.
This is your moment to make connections. Join us for an exclusive Brunch on the Terrace, where you’ll be able to relax, digest all the action from the Festival so far alongside your industry peers, and rub shoulders with creative legends in the sun – ahead of the main event.
Gain new perspectives and insight with a review of selected groundbreaking moments of creativity that have defined the last 70 years — and will set the precedent for the next 70. In this session, a series of exclusive screenings will revisit iconic, Lion-winning work, as told and introduced by the industry legends who made it.
Here’s To The Crazy Ones presents the untold 50 year history of the barrier-breaking ad agency Chiat/Day. It celebrates the intersection of art and innovation, and the pioneers who re-coded the DNA of advertising to this day.
Through archival footage and recent conversations between Lee and other creative icons, we'll see how a single Crazy One can change a brand or even an industry, but when visionaries come together, they can change the world. The film will be followed by a Q&A with Lee himself.
