Biography
Ben is the Creative Chairman of McCann Australia and Founder of HERO, a globally awarded independent based in Australia. A passionate advocate for creative effectiveness, over three decades Ben’s agencies have consistently been recognised from the Cannes Lions to the Effies, including Agency of the Year honours at D&AD, New York Festivals, London International Awards, Spikes Asia, WINA, Campaign Asia, Campaign Brief, Mumbrella, AdNews, B&T and AWARD.
He began his career as a creative at McCann, DDB and Y&R, before founding award winning independent SMART, later acquired by McCann. As Creative Chairman, McCann Australia became the world’s most awarded agency, achieving global acclaim for campaigns including Dumb Ways to Die, the most awarded campaign in Lions history.
Ben went on to serve as McCann Asia Pacific Creative Leadership Chair, overseeing creative excellence across the region and helping set new benchmarks for global awards and effectiveness performance. In 2020, he founded HERO, an independent agency working with major global and Australian brands including Toyota, Maybelline New York and Microsoft. A regular media commentator, industry mentor and Copyschool tutor, Ben's chaired and judged local and international award shows including the London International Awards and WINA.
