Biography
Chesley Maddox-Dorsey is the Chief Executive Officer of A Wonder Media Company (AWMC), where she leads a powerful media portfolio that includes American Urban Radio Networks (AURN) and Superadio. Under her visionary leadership, AURN has become the nation’s premier audio network targeting African American audiences, reaching more than 47 million weekly listeners through over 6,000 affiliates. AURN’s robust programming spans news, entertainment, and cultural storytelling, amplified by its groundbreaking urban gaming division and the digital-forward programmatic platform AURN+, which generates over 3 billion monthly digital-audio impressions via mobile.
In parallel, she oversees Superadio, a syndication powerhouse offering 75 radio programs and podcasts across a wide spectrum of formats including mainstream, AOR, AC, Classic Rock, Country, and Inspirational.
Prior to founding AWMC, Chesley served as CEO of Access.1 Communications Corp.-NY, where she managed 15 radio stations, an NBC television affiliate, Vita magazine, and held equity in both Superadio and AURN. Chesley’s early career includes her role as Senior Vice President in Investment Banking at Brenner Securities, where she specialized in mergers, acquisitions, and capital raising for media and entertainment clients.
A respected industry leader, Chesley has been honored with the Gracie Leadership Award and recognized by Radio Ink as one of the ‘Top Leaders in Radio.’ She is a
champion of community empowerment, supporting initiatives such as HARLEM WEEK, the Hetrick Martin Institute, and the National Cares Mentoring Movement.
An alumna and Trustee of Oberlin College, Chesley is committed to education and the arts. She resides in New York City with her husband, renowned musician and
educator Leon Lee Dorsey, and is the proud mother of Kai Dorsey, an emerging TV writer based in Los Angeles.
