Biography
Jason Harvey is the EVP and General Manager of BET+, where he oversees the creative and commercial heartbeat of one of the most culturally relevant streaming platforms in the industry. At the intersection of content, culture, and cutting-edge tech, Jason drives the platform’s vision, from greenlighting originals to designing the strategy behind programming, acquisitions, talent partnerships, and revenue growth.
For over 5 years, Jason has steered BET+ through a period of transformative growth, delivering double-digit revenue gains and expanding the platform’s footprint with a slate of bold, culturally resonant programming. His leadership has led to breakout original series, record subscriber growth, and a deepened commitment to authentic storytelling that centers Black voices.
Jason brings a producer’s instinct to his executive role, championing creators, backing daring new IP, and pushing for stories that matter. He also built BET+’s data and AI infrastructure from the ground up, introducing personalization engines and predictive tools that help match the right stories with the right audiences without compromising cultural authenticity.
Before BET+, Jason was a growth strategist behind the scenes for brands like Google, Microsoft, and eBay, developing campaigns and international expansions that generated billions in new revenue. That global lens continues to shape how he approaches platform strategy, creator partnerships, and franchise development.
A creative at heart, Jason is also the author of Sammy Startup, a children's book now in development as an animated series that introduces kids to entrepreneurship. He’s committed to mentoring the next generation of diverse storytellers and technologists, and regularly speaks at conferences on the future of media, AI, and representation.
Fluent in Spanish and Portuguese, a former Peace Corps Volunteer, and a proud father of four, Jason holds an MBA from UCLA Anderson and a BS from USC but he’s best known in the industry for betting early on culture-forward content, building teams that scale, and making platforms that storytellers love.
