We are proud to be working with CALM, our Young Lions Live Award June partner.
The Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) is leading a movement against
suicide. Every week 125 people in the UK take their own lives. And 75% of all UK
suicides are male. CALM exists to change this by offering life saving services, provoking national conversation and bringing people together to reject living
miserably and stand together against suicide.
Our helpline and webchat are open 365 days a year offering practical suggestions for
all of life’s problems and vital intervention. We’re there for everyone who’s struggling
with life, no matter who they are, where they’re from or what they’re going through. Since the beginning of lockdown the CALM helpline has answered over 164,000 calls
and chats. That is a call for help every 61 seconds.
Through our campaigns we challenge stereotypes and challenge the stigma that
prevents people talking about suicide. And we use music, sport, art and anything in
between to get our message across and to help people find the strength to seek help. We’re a movement of thousands of people and we’re growing every day. All with one
goal: a more hopeful society. One where people reject living miserably, get help when they need it and don’t die by suicide.
The competition is open to individuals or teams of two and you must be aged between 18-30 years old. Please note you will be required to supply proof of age when registering.
